Sheikh ul Islam Ibn Taymiyah (Rahimahulah) said:

“No one has the right to raise an individual for this Ummah, calling to his way while showing allegiance to it or enmity towards those who oppose it, other than the Prophet. Nor do they have the right to raise any speech for this Ummah, showing allegiance to it or enmity towards anyone who opposes it, other than the speech of Allah and His Messenger and that which this Ummah has unanimously agreed upon. Rather this is the behavior of the people of innovation who raise a particular individual or speech for themselves and divide the Ummah because of it, while showing allegiance to those who adhere to this speech or ascribe to it, and enmity and hatred towards those who oppose it.” (Majmoo‟ Fatawa)
