The Clear Just Saying of Shaykh ‘Ali Hassan al-Halabi about Shaykh Rabee al-Madkhali1

Shaykh Rabee, for a small number of years, has inclined towards extremism with regards to disparaging, criticising and defaming the people of the Sunnah.
Yes – Shaykh al-Albaani said about him 20 years ago, or 15 years ago [that he was] the flag bearer of Jarh wa Ta’deel – a description that, at that time, was correct. Shaykh Rabee, at that time, used to refute the people of innovation, he used to aid the Sunnah by disparaging those who deserved to be disparaged.
As for today, with sorrow, Shaykh Rabee has directed his flag towards the people of the Sunnah, disparaging them; having ill-intentions towards them; not accepting their recantations; not seeing the possible interpretations of that which they err in in their phrasing.

And the esteemed Shaykh Abdul Muhsin al-abbaad, our shaykh and ustaath, may Allaah preserve him, the ustaath of Shaykh Rabee and his teacher at the Islamic University, penned 2 treatises for 2 reasons at 2 different periods of time, that I do not say are explicit refutations of Shaykh Rabee, but explicit refutations of the methodological approach of Shaykh Rabee and the manner o f Shaykh Rabee, where he inclined towards this extremism in disparaging, which we eluded to a moment ago.

The first treatise by Shaykh Abdul Muhsin al-Abbaad is called ‘Mildness, Ahlus Sunnah, with Ahlus Sunnah’, in which he debated with Shaykh Rabee and his thinking. He made clear his errors in this area. In this area – we are with Shaykh Rabee in all areas [of knowledge] – we are with him in his aqeedah; in his reverence towards the Sunnah; in fiqh; in tarjeeh; in the Book; with reg ards to the Salaf. However, we are not with him in this extremism in the area of Jarh wa tajreeh.

The second treatise by Shaykh al-Abbaad is called, ‘Once Again – Mildness Ahlus Sunnah with Ahlus Sunnah’ – [written on] a different occasion; a different time; a different situation; in another disparaging of others from Ahlus Sunnah by Shaykh Rabee.
We ask Allaah to give him success; to give him nobility; to increase him in excellence; to return him to that which is correct. Verily, He is the All-Hearing, the answerer.
