Someone calls Shaykh AbdulMaalik ar-Ramadaanee al-Jazaa’iree and asks him: “How should we deal with those who are still influenced by Ali al-Halabee and Mashhoor Hasan Salmaan?”Shaykh AbdulMaalik replies with: “I am also influenced by them!”Then the questioner says: “the words of Shaykh Rabee, Shaykh Ubayd and Shaykh Baazmool have reached us.”

Shaykh AbdulMalik: “Are they Prophets? They are Mashaa’yikh, baarakAllaahu feekum. We do not take our ‘Ulama as Monks and Rabbis as the Jews and Christians did.”

Questioner: “The book by Baazmool has been praised by Shaykh Rabee’.”

Shaykh AbdulMalik: “Does that mean that the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wassallam) has praised the book though?”

Questioner: “No, yet Shaykh Rabee’ is the Imaam of Jarh wa’t-Ta’deel of this era.” [Note: Imam al-Albaanee, nor anyone other of the Imaams of this era, never ever said that Shaykh Rabee’ was “an Imaam”, he said he was the ‘flag-bearer.’]

Shaykh AbdulMalik: “tayyib, as for me then I follow the daleel!”

Then Shaykh AbdulMalik ar-Ramadani says: “The book [i.e. the book by Ahmad Baazmool] has been censured by Shaykh al-‘Abbaad.”
