A caution against newly invented methodologies

From the characteristics by which this group can be recognized are:
- Lack of concern towards studying and reflecting upon the Qur’aan and the authentic Sunnah
- Gatherings devoid of the remembrance of Allaah
- Resemblance to the Khawarij
- Faulty understanding regarding the Asl (origin) of a Muslim
- Not differentiating between soundness of the general manhaj (methodology), and mistakes and errors in the details of methodology
- Relying upon taking knowledge from books
- Taking only from selected scholars and abandoning others
- Attacking the scholars and people of knowledge
- Giving fatwa without knowledge
- Taqleed (blind following) of personalities
- Cutting and pasting statements and twisting them to distort their meanings
- Testing people with individuals who are not from the scholars of the Sunnah
- Wasting away precious time
- Neglecting the affair of unity and brotherhood
